Let me tell you a little story, a story I couldn’t tell you if my husband was still here, because he wouldn’t like it. But he isn’t here and I need to tell this as background to today’s thanksgiving.
My husband, you see, didn’t have a bed while he was growing up. When he was in 9th grade, he went to the dump, scavenged an old lounge-type lawn chair, brought it home, and that was his bed. He didn’t have proper covers either, but an old coat or two over him to keep warm.
I was reminded of this yesterday when Kim said she was thankful for her bed. I lived with a man who appreciated a warm bed more than anyone I know because he’d lived without one. I had forgotten that, but Kim’s post reminded me, and made me thankful for my bed, too. It is a good gift that I take for granted while there are plenty of people who don’t have beds and struggle to keep warm at night.
What are you thankful for today?
Here are three ways you can join in the thanksgiving.
If you’ve got a thanksgiving post and I missed it, please let me know so I can add your link.
