I’m thankful beforehand for the Maunday Thursday service I’ll be taking part in tonight. I’m thankful for the opportunity to worship in this way. I’m thankful for time to remember and be thankful for Jesus’s sacrifice for us.
I’m thankful for hymns of the cross, like When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, O Sacred Head Now Wounded, and—one we’ll be singing tonight—Stricken, Smitten, and Inflicted, by which we can, in a sense, join with the saints who’ve gone before us in remembering Jesus’s sacrifice.
I’m thankful for God’s love displayed in the cross of Christ.
I’m thankful for quiet in the house.
Throughout this year I’m planning to post a few thoughts of thanksgiving each Thursday along with Kim at the Upward Call and others.
