Part II: Questions about The Ten Commandments

62. Q. What does the ninth commandment teach us?
         A. To tell the truth and not to speak evil of others.

(Click through to read scriptural proof.)

O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
who does not slander with his tongue
and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend….
These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace….
…it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
