Thankful Thursday

I just listed a bunch of things I’m thankful for yesterday in my April Status Report. Here are a couple more:

• I’m thankful for time alone. Since I have two of my grown children, along with their pets, living with me, this can be a busy home. So when I have peace and quiet to read or reflect or write, I’m thankful for it. I’m also thankful that that my home is busy enough that alone time is not lonely, but a joy.
• I’m thankful that I learned how to sew when I was young so that I can make things when I want to. I’m also thankful that I don’t have to sew things unless I want to.

On Thursdays throughout this year, I plan to post a few thoughts of thanksgiving along with Kim at the Upward Call and others.

In the Kitchen
Make your own canned apple pie filling, then use it to make a yummy apple desert in just 5 minutes. I plan to put up a few quarts of pie filling next fall when apples are in season and then give some of them away as gifts. (Reluctant Entertainer)

is an important truth few Christians have thought about. By “simple” I don’t mean God is dim-witted. Nor do I mean that God is easy to understand. Simple, as a divine attribute, is the opposite of composite.

Status Report: April

Copying Lisa.

Sitting…by the window at the table that used to be our dining room table until I made it into a big desk.

Drinking…yet another cup of coffee.

Loving…the peace in the house.

Wanting…my knee and hip to just hurry up already and get back to normal.

Enjoyed…the northern lights again last night, but I’ve got to stop it with the late night trips out into the cold.

Reveling…in nothing at the moment. Oh! I take that back. The mailman just arrived with a package of books for me!

Thinking…that the spectacular northern lights show on Easter night was the heavens declaring the glory of the resurrection. Thinking, too, that perhaps in the new heavens and the new earth there will be spectacular northern lights every night in every place. What do you think?

Anticipating…spring. And the new heavens and new earth.

Considering…what to make for supper with the leftover ham.

Realizing…that I have too much stuff and I need to clean out.

Thankful…for too much stuff. For memories. For new books. For coffee. For strawberry shortcake. For the promise of spring. For peace. For northern lights on Easter night. For the promise of the new heavens and the new earth.
