Sunday Hymn: Praise Him! Praise Him!

    Praise Him, praise Him—Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
    Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim.
    Hail Him! hail Him! highest archangels in glory;
    Strength and honor give to His holy name!
    Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
    In His arms He carries them all day long:
    O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of Zion,
    Praise Him, praise Him ever in joyful song.

    Praise Him, praise Him—Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
    For our sins He suffered, and bled, and died;
    He our rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
    Hail Him, hail Him, Jesus the Crucified.
    Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
    Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
    Once for us rejected, despised and forsaken,
    Prince of Glory, He is triumphant now.

    Praise Him, praise Him—Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
    Heav’nly portals loud with hosannas ring,
    Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever.
    Crown Him! Crown Him—Prophet, and Priest, and King!
    Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful.
    Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
    Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
    Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.

You Make Your Own Breaks

Last year I took several blog holidays as I traveled, and even one when I was ill. This year I haven’t traveled or been ill, so I’ve been at this blogging thing rather steadily. But blog breaks are good for the soul, so I’m going on a break anyway.

I’m going to enjoy my last week of summer harvesting the garden, playing with babies, making jam, and catching up on my reading. I’ll be back on Sunday with the Sunday hymn.

Don’t forget that next week is the scheduled birth of this baby. You’ll want to be there.

Sunday's Hymn: I Know Whom I Have Believed

    I know not why God’s wondrous grace
    To me He hath made known,
    Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
    Redeemed me for His own.

    Refrain

    But I know whom I have believèd,
    And am persuaded that He is able
    To keep that which I’ve committed
    Unto Him against that day.

    I know not how this saving faith
    To me He did impart,
    Nor how believing in His Word
    Wrought peace within my heart.

    I know not how the Spirit moves,
    Convincing us of sin,
    Revealing Jesus through the Word,
    Creating faith in Him.

    I know not what of good or ill
    May be reserved for me,
    Of weary ways or golden days,
    Before His face I see.

    I know not when my Lord may come,
    At night or noonday fair,
    Nor if I walk the vale with Him,
    Or meet Him in the air.
