Round the Sphere Again: Languishing in the Link Pile

I try to have a category for each of these link round-up posts so that the links included are somehow related to each other. The only connection these two links have, as far as I can see, is that they’ve been so long in my clippings file waiting for a link partner that I’ve been tempted to delete them. But they’re too good for that.

Understanding Counterfactuals
It’s the context that determines the meaning of any counterfactual. It may be “literally telling the truth about counterfactual situations” or “figuratively telling the truth about the factual situation” (Brandon Watson of Siris).

You’ll find Brandon’s post especially useful if you do any discussing with Molinists. (For a while, it seemed like libertarian free will proponents tended to move toward open theism in their search for a coherent system. Now it’s Molinism that’s trending, or so it seems to me.)

True to Your Word
When people ask Andree Seu for prayer, she prays on the spot (World). Sometimes I do this, and I should try to do it more often, because it’s so easy to forget promises made.  Andree lists other advantages to this practice, too.

Sunday's Hymn: What a Wonderful Saviour!

Christ has for sin atonement made,
What a wonderful Savior!
We are redeemed, the price is paid!
What a wonderful Savior!

Refrain

What a wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Jesus!
What a wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Lord!

I praise Him for the cleansing blood,
What a wonderful Savior!
That reconciled my soul to God;
What a wonderful Savior!

He cleansed my heart from all its sin,
What a wonderful Savior!
And now He reigns and rules therein;
What a wonderful Savior!

He walks beside me in the way,
What a wonderful Savior!
And keeps me faithful day by day;
What a wonderful Savior!

He gives me overcoming power,
What a wonderful Savior!
And triumph in each trying hour;
What a wonderful Savior!

To Him I’ve given all my heart,
What a wonderful Savior!
The world shall never share a part;
What a wonderful Savior!
