A Bit of Tennyson

From In Memoriam, XXXI

When Lazarus left his charnel-cave,
And home to Mary’s house return’d,
Was this demanded — if he yearn’d
To hear her weeping by his grave?

“Where wert thou, brother, those four days?”
There lives no record of reply,
Which telling what it is to die
Had surely added praise to praise.

From every house the neighbours met,
The streets were fill’d with joyful sound,
A solemn gladness even crown’d
The purple brows of Olivet.

Behold a man raised up by Christ!
The rest remaineth unreveal’d;
He told it not; or something seal’d
The lips of that Evangelist.

Alfred Lord Tennyson

Sunday's Hymn

Here’s yet another of my favorite hymns.

Praise the Savior, Ye Who Know Him!*

Praise the Savior, ye who know Him!
Who can tell how much we owe Him?
Gladly let us render to Him
All we are and have.

Jesus is the Name that charms us,
He for conflict fits and arms us;
Nothing moves and nothing harms us
While we trust in Him.

Trust in Him, ye saints, forever,
He is faithful, changing never;
Neither force nor guile can sever
Those He loves from Him.

Keep us, Lord, O keep us cleaving
To Thyself, and still believing,
Till the hour of our receiving
Promised joys with Thee.

Then we shall be where we would be,
Then we shall be what we should be,
Things that are not now, nor could be,
Soon shall be our own.

I don’t have a YouTube video of this one, but I rather like this mp3 version. (The site that hosts this is KJVO, which, as you probably know, isn’t teaching that I endorse.)
