To the Manger and Beyond

I posted at Out of the Ordinary with a suggestion for an advent/Christmas reading exercise.

A few years ago, I started a Christmas/Advent scripture reading tradition. I began following a theme—one that Christ fulfills—through scripture from beginning to end.

Thankful Thursday

It’s cold out, especially for November. It makes me thankful that I have warm winter outerwear: thick boots, a calf-length down parka with hood, and puffy mitts. None of them are pretty (I’m not sure pretty and warm is possible.), but they keep me warm and that’s a good gift.

I’ve been on a vocation kick lately, thanking God for the people who do work that provides good things from God for us, so I should be thankful, too, for those who designed and made and stocked and sold my winter gear.

I’m thankful for a warm supper in the crockpot. It’s been smelling delish all day as I worked.

I’m thankful that my car starts in the cold even when I forget to plug in the block heater. (There’s a reason Toyotas are #1 in the north of Canada.) Yay for car designers and manufacturers, too.
