Sunday's Hymn

Who Is He in Yonder Stall?

Who is He in yonder stall
At whose feet the shepherds fall?
Who is He in deep distress,
Fasting in the wilderness?

Refrain

’Tis the Lord! O wondrous story!
’Tis the Lord! the King of glory!
At His feet we humbly fall,
Crown Him! crown Him, Lord of all!

Who is He the people bless
For His words of gentleness?
Who is He to whom they bring
All the sick and sorrowing?

Who is He that stands and weeps
At the grave where Lazarus sleeps?
Who is He the gathering throng
Greet with loud triumphant song?

Lo! at midnight, who is He
Prays in dark Gethsemane?
Who is He on yonder tree
Dies in grief and agony?

Who is He that from the grave
Comes to heal and help and save?
Who is He that from His throne
Rules through all the world alone?

November of Thanksgiving 26

You can get this button from Lisa of Lisa NotI‘m hoping that you’ll all remember that these daily thanksgiving posts don’t stop after American Thanksgiving Day, but go on through the entire month of November. If you can spare the time, please keep posting your thanksgiving.

As I went through my very busy day, here are a few thing I thanked God for:

  • rye bread toast for breakfast.
  • my wall paper scraping son. The hideous wall paper in the back entry has been up since we bought the house in 1984. I knew getting it off  the wall would be a big job—that’s the reason I lived with something so appalling for so long—but now it really has to go. I’m so thankful I don’t have to scrape it off myself, but that my youngest son has offered to do it for me.
  • an answer to prayer.
  • my golden retreiver. She really is a lovely old girl.
  • unexpected company.
  • a few good conversations.
  • the opportunity to help someone out just a little.
  • supper in the crockpot.
  • the incarnation. That God the Son would come to us as a human being is mind-boggling. It was our only hope, and God planned it and brought it about for us.
