November of Thanksgiving 14

I’m thankful for hymns. I’m thankful for them for lots of reasons, but right now I’m thinking about how they tie us to believers throughout history.

Others thanking God today:

What are you thankful for today?

Do you want to participate, too? You’ll find instructions here for the ways both bloggers and nonbloggers can join in the thanksgiving.

As more people participate, it gets more likely that I’ll make mistakes in my posting, so if I miss your post or mess up a link, please tell me. And remember, if you miss a day or two, you’ll need to give me a heads up on your next thanksgiving post.

Sunday's Hymn

Beautiful Savior

Beautiful Savior, King of Creation
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love Thee, truly I’d serve Thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.

Fair are the meadows, Fair are the woodlands,
Robed in the flowers of blooming spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
He makes our sorrowing spirit sing.

Fair is the sunshine, Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.

Beautiful Savior, Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration
Now and forevermore be Thine!

Hear it below, sung by the Condordia Choir to  F. Melius Christiansen’s arrangement.

November of Thanksgiving 13

My son and I helped our neighbour out by taking his two dogs, along with our two, on a long walk this afternoon. It is a beautiful day for a walk in the bush, much more autumn than winter, which is unusual for the Yukon in the middle of November. The dogs loved sprinting through the woods, digging for squirrels together, and returning for treats when my son whistled for them.

Now they are all napping, tired from the activity. I’m thankful for the sunshine and warm temperatures and beautiful boreal forest. I’m thankful, too, for high-spirited pups and gentle old dogs.

I’ll be back later this evening to add any more thanksgiving posts I find (or that you point me to).
