Sunday's Hymn: O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing

O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his grace.

My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread through all the earth abroad,
The honors of thy Name.

Jesus, the Name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease;
‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,
‘Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of reigning sin,
He sets the pris’ner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood availed for me.

He speaks and, listening to his voice,
New life the dead receive;
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice;
The humble poor believe.

Hear him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb,
Your loosened tongues employ;
Ye blind, behold your Savior come;
And leap, ye lame, for joy.

For Salvation

In keeping with our theme for November at Out of the Ordinary, I’ve posted there this morning on being thankful for our salvation. From start to finish, salvation is a gracious gift from God, so we ought to always be thanking him for it. I’ve posted a list of some of the benefits of our salvation to get us started.

Do you have something to add to my list?

Thankful Thursday

Today I’m thankful

  • for an important task finished more quickly than expected and for the extra time this gave me.

  • for dogs. My life would be poorer without the dogs in it. They’re good for companionship, exercise, and meeting other dog owners in the neighbourhood.

  • for a thick comforter to keep me warm while I sleep and a fleece throw to keep me warm while I read.

  • for God’s provision. He has always given me enough and sometimes more, and often in ways that surprise me and come at exactly the right time.

  • that God never sleeps so I can rest.

Also thankful today:

What are you thankful for? Leave a comment with your thanksgiving, post your thanksgiving on your blog, or tweet it. Give me the link by email or in a comment and I’ll add your thanksgiving to the list in the post.
