Being Thankful on November 8

Grace by EnstromI’m thankful for trials and suffering. They are a gift from God (Philippians 1:29) and they work good things (James 1:2-4; Romans 5:3-5; Romans 8:28-29; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7).

  my small dining wood table that I am now using as a computer desk. Now I don’t have to lug my laptop from one place to another. Also thankful I have a job as we had a huge lay-off recently-have had about 7 in the last year and a half.
  
  Also thankful for the rhubarb strawberry jam my sister-in-law keeps me supplied with-no other jam tastes as delicious on my Saturday morning toast.

I’m celebrating good gifts from God during the month of November and hoping you’ll be thankful for your good gifts, too. Here’s how you can join in the thanksgiving and even, perhaps, get something material from it.

Being Thankful on November 7

I’m thankful for my new furnace and new windows. The house stays at an even temperature, and without the too-hot-then-too-cold temperatures of the old furnace and the drafts from the old windows, I can keep the temperature on the thermostat lower and still be perfectly comfortable.

Both the furnace and the windows are a real blessing to me as I head into the winter season. I am also thankful for my oldest son, who installed all the windows and new sealed units for me and saved me a bunch of money!

As an added bonus, I have a whole lot more space and light in the basement now that the thirty year old green monster is gone, replaced by a pretty little thing 1/8th its size.

• Suzanne is thankful for Fridays. She is also thankful for the things and people who help keep her warm.
• Tulipgirl is thankful a full fridge, among other things.
• Dorothy is thankful for Fridays, too, because they mean she can spend more time with her husband.

• Liz is thankful for three things, including a couple of goofy kids.
