Sunday's Hymn: We Give Thee But Thine Own

We give thee but thine own,
Whate’er the gift may be:
All that we have is thine alone,
A trust, O Lord, from thee.

May we thy bounties thus
As stewards true receive,
And gladly, as thou blessest us,
To thee our firstfruits give.

O hearts are bruised and dead,
And homes are bare and cold,
And lambs for whom the Shepherd bled
Are straying from the fold.

And we believe thy Word,
Though dim our faith may be,
Whate’er for thine we do, O Lord,
We do it unto thee.

Thankful Thursday

Tonight, as I drive to choir practice, I’ll be thanking God for my winter tires. I’m thankful, too, that I had the means to buy them.

I’m also thankful

  • for this afternoon’s 4 or 5 inches of new snow. If it’s going to be winter, we might as well have enough snow to play in.
  • for my furnace,  and for the oil it burns to keep me warm.
  • for all my winter gear, parka, boots, mitts and tuque.
  • for a warm bed—for my down comforter and wool blanket.
  • for my family nearby, keeping my life full and busy.
  • for projects to work on.
  • that God enlightens his own so they see the truth about him.

What are you thankful for?
