Being Thankful on November 16

River Trail in Mid-November

Yes, it’s cold, but the skies are bright and everything is covered with sparkly white frost. I dress for the weather and I thank God for the splendor of his winter creation.

He gives snow like wool;
he scatters hoarfrost like ashes.
He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs;
who can stand before his cold?

(Psalm 147:16-17 ESV)

This is the same spot on the river trail that I photographed in late September. Both seasons are beautiful, aren’t they?

What are you thankful for?

Update

  • threegirldad is thankful for “family and friends who made November 16 a truly happy birthday.” And belated birthday greetings from me to threegirldad.

I’m celebrating good gifts from God during the month of November and hoping you’ll be thankful for your good gifts, too. Here’s how you can join in the thanksgiving and even, perhaps, get something material from it. If you’ve posted something you’ve posted something you’ve expected me to include and you don’t see it on the list, please let me know. I do miss things sometimes.

Sunday's Hymn

We sang this Fanny Crosby hymn this morning.

He Hideth My Soul

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

How about a YouTube piano solo version of this hymn? There’s no information about who this is, but it’s very nice.

Other hymns, worship songs, sermons etc. posted today:

Have you posted a hymn today and I missed it? Let me know by leaving a link in the comments or by emailing me at the address in the sidebar and I’ll add your post to the list.

Being Thankful on November 15

I’m allergic to peanuts. I haven’t eaten peanuts for a very long time and I don’t miss peanuts much, but I really did miss peanut butter. So I’m very thankful for pea butter, which I buy right at my local supermarket. Pea butter is not, like most food substitutes, a pale imitation of the real thing. It’s just as good, and maybe better, than peanut butter. I can have all those snacks I used to love, just with pea butter instead of peanut butter—crackers and pea butter, pea butter and jam sandwiches, and best of all, pea butter ants on a log.

I’m thankful for pea butter, the golden peas it’s made from, and the Alberta farmer who came up with the idea and developed the product. They are gifts from my Father who provides every good thing.

What are you thankful for?
