Recommended for Listening XIII

D. A. Carson’s series of sermons on Hebrews, which I paid good money to download several months ago, is now free at The Gospel Coalition website. These are not easy listening—you’ll want to stop, read and think as you make your way through them—but they are worth every bit of head work they demand of you.

I’d put all six of them on a list of top ten sermons I’ve heard this year, so I was excited to see them offered to us free of charge so that I can recommend them to you here.

  1. Part 1: As the Son, He Eclipses the Angels (Hebrews 1)
  2. Part 2: As a Man, He Bypasses the Angels (Hebrews 2)
  3. Part 3: Jesus’ Rest is Better Than All the Rest (Hebrews 3:7-4:13)
  4. Part 4: Jesus’ Priesthood is Better Than Aaron’s (Hebrews 7; also 4-5)
  5. Part 5: Jesus Is Better: Don’t Apostatize (Hebrews 5:11-6:20)
  6. Part 6: Jesus’ Sacrifice Better Than the Temple Sacrifices (Hebrews 9)

There you go. Download them, pop them in your mp3 player and listen while you shovel all that snow.

WOW!! Thanks, Rebecca! I'm going to download this series to my iPod. I'm doing a study on Hebrews with a couple of friends--we've been at it over a year and we're finishing Chapter 8 today. : D It's been an incredible blessing. I look forward to hearing what Carson has to say.

This is like getting an unexpected gift! : D

There are a whole lot more sermons where those come from, too.
