Thanksgiving 30

I’m a little sorry to see November—with all it’s thanksgiving posts—end. Today, I’m thankful for everyone who participated in giving thanks to God during this month of thanksgiving. I know I’ve mentioned this before—so forgive me repetition—but it was a real joy to go around every day and link to the thankful posts found. I was in kind of a complaining mood this past month, but the daily thanksgiving from all of you helped me keep my grumbling in check. So it was good all around and I’m thankful.

And it seems like the little daily November thanksgiving tradition that started here a few years ago has been picked up in other corners of the blog world and I’m very thankful for that, too.

What are you thankful for today?

Self-Aquaintance

Dear Lord! accept a sinful heart,
Which of itself complains,
And mourns, with much and frequent smart,
The evil it contains.

There fiery seeds of anger lurk,
Which often hurt my frame;
And wait but for the tempter’s work,
To fan them to a flame.

Legality holds out a bribe
To purchase life from Thee;
And Discontent would fain prescribe
How Thou shalt deal with me.

While Unbelief withstands Thy grace,
And puts the mercy by,
Presumption, with a brow of brass,
Says, “Give me, or I die!”

How eager are my thoughts to roam,
In quest of what they love!
But ah! when duty calls them home,
How heavily they move!

Oh, cleanse me in a Saviour’s blood,
Transform me by Thy power,
And make me Thy beloved abode,
And let me roam no more.

Thanksgiving 29

I’m thankful that “God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in [my heart] to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)” I’m thankful that one day I will see Jesus face to face. And then? “…[S]o shall [I] always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:17)”

I’m thankful for the hope God gives.

What are you thankful for today?

Here are three ways you can join in the thanksgiving.

  • Mention something you’re thankful for in the comments here and I’ll included it in one of my thanksgiving posts, or
  • Email me to tell me what you’re thankful for and I’ll include it in a post, or
  • Post your thankful thought(s) on your own blog, send me the link(s), and I’ll link to your post(s). If you plan to make your thanksgiving posts daily during the month, let me know that and you won’t need to send me daily links.

More details here.

If you’ve got a thanksgiving post and I missed it, please let me know so I can add your link.
