Phantom Scrabble Boards

Picture%203.pngCell phone junkies feel phantom ring vibrations, or so I’m told. I wonder if online Scrabble junkies see phantom Scrabble boards.

I could ask Carla, I suppose. I’m waiting for her next weird dream post, because I’m pretty certain that somewhere in it she will be chased in a dark alley by a fanged Scrabble board wielding an ax.

I do hope she wakes up in time to save herself  and recount her adventure.

The implication being of course, that I am an online Scrabble junkie. Well, I only have one thing to say to such a charge:

"GACK is an invalid word"

It wouldn't surprise me if some do. There's a condition called the "Tetris effect" in which people who play Tetris a lot start dreaming about Tetris and also trying to "fit" objects together in the real world. (I had firsthand experience with this in school - I was mentally rotating words on the printed page so the ascenders and descenders of the letters would fit into spaces.)

This condition isn't limited to Tetris, so presumably there are some people out there afflicted with "Scrabble effect" as well.
