Being Thankful on November 8
I’m thankful for trials and suffering. They are a gift from God (Philippians 1:29) and they work good things (James 1:2-4; Romans 5:3-5; Romans 8:28-29; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7).
- Connie is thankful for God’s provision.
- So is Suzanne.
- Tulipgirl is thankful for a clean house and more.
- Dorothy is thankful for the kind of weather that makes for guilt-free avoidance of leaf raking.
- Kim of Hiraeth has a list of reasons she is thankful for not sleeping.
- Dawn is thankful for her Little E.
- Liz is thankful for an article by Tom Gilson and more.
- Julana is thankful for a washer, a dryer, sleep, weekends, discount bookstores, and fall weather.
- Karen is thankful for
my small dining wood table that I am now using as a computer desk. Now I don’t have to lug my laptop from one place to another. Also thankful I have a job as we had a huge lay-off recently-have had about 7 in the last year and a half.
Also thankful for the rhubarb strawberry jam my sister-in-law keeps me supplied with-no other jam tastes as delicious on my Saturday morning toast.
Updates
- Willow is thankful for jobs and a love of reading.
What are you thankful for?
I’m celebrating good gifts from God during the month of November and hoping you’ll be thankful for your good gifts, too. Here’s how you can join in the thanksgiving and even, perhaps, get something material from it.

I've posted Days 7 and 8 of my thankfulness in November. It's interesting that I too am thankful for our jobs.
Got it! Thanks for reminding me of your post.
I've just started doing a study of James, and I actually said audibly the other day, "Lord, thank you for these trials." It is kind of liberating when we do that.
Kim,
Yes, it is liberating to thank God for them. It helps us give up control, I think, and understand that our trustworthy God is always in control.
Thanks for collecting these, Rebecca! It helps my faith grow to read the posts of other thankful people!
