Gas Up: July 10

The price of gas at my neighbourhood station went up 3¢ a litre yesterday, so now I pay $147.9 per litre. Unfortunately, right after the price went up my guage went to empty.

The people you see under the sign are the Chinese immigrant couple who live several houses down. They’ve been picking wildflowers and she’s carrying a wicker basket full of them.

In the comments to last week’s post, Neil gave a link to a photo he took of the price of gas in the Highlands of Scotland. He explains what this price really means:

1.33 doesn’t seem bad until you realise that this is pound/litre - if you convert, that is £9.96/gallon.

Back home in Edinburgh it is a bit lower at £1.16/litre. Note that well over half of this is tax.

Nai tells us that gas is cheaper in Indonesia:

In Indonesia, the price for the gas also rising up. In fact, it has brought a lot od pro and cons. The problem is peoples are not ready with the rising. Like for premium..from Rp.4500,-($0.29/litre) to Rp. 6000,- ($0,64/litre) it might seem small compare to the price in the US. But, it has a lot of impacts. Now, for a week I will end up paying Rp. 210.000,- ( $22.5). Further more, the price of Pertamax is raising every month ( in fact, the price can be raise twice in one month ) now per litre wehave to pay Rp. 10009,- ( $1.07/litre)

Interested on moving to Indonesia ? The gas are far cheaper :)

Not that I have a vehicle, but today I noticed that diesel was almost 6 cents a litre more than gasoline. Now that's scary !!!
