Thankful Thursday
Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:56AM
I just listed a bunch of things I’m thankful for yesterday in my April Status Report. Here are a couple more:
- I’m thankful for time alone. Since I have two of my grown children, along with their pets, living with me, this can be a busy home. So when I have peace and quiet to read or reflect or write, I’m thankful for it. I’m also thankful that that my home is busy enough that alone time is not lonely, but a joy.
- I’m thankful that I learned how to sew when I was young so that I can make things when I want to. I’m also thankful that I don’t have to sew things unless I want to.
On Thursdays throughout this year, I plan to post a few thoughts of thanksgiving along with Kim at the Upward Call and others.

I have felt similar things about time alone. My daughter will be home from university soon. She's spending a week at home before her exams start, and she said to me yesterday, "Mom, the pets in this place run the house!" because there was two cats and a dog vying for attention. And then she commented about how often I get called to pick someone up or drive someone somewhere. I, too, appreciate having a busy enough house that the time alone is a treasure.
We have a son living with us too, but due to special needs. Time alone is really, really nice.
I'm glad I learned to sew in high school home ec class centuries ago. Been thinking how nice it would be to have a few long, flowery cotton skirts for summer....
I'm with you on both of those thankful thoughts, Rebecca! I love having Emily live with us but I do treasure the time its just me and Charlie here. And I too learned to sew very young and am glad of it but also glad that I don't have to sew things unless I want to.
What are you making?
