Round the Sphere Again: Thinking About Words
Spelled Differently
I think of myself as a good speller, but I didn’t know this. I’ve always spelled it the Canadian way (Grammer Girl) and didn’t realize there was another right way to do it.
Spelled the Same
but pronounced differently, and it could cause a little uncertainty when reading in Acts 23:19 in the ESV (Bill Mounce at Koinonia).
Same Book, Different Title
Carl Trueman mentions a book I’ve been reading and quoting:
Converted to Christ in a non-Christian home at aged 17, I was clueless as to what to read; thankfully, kind friends directed me to the work of these two men. A battered copy of God’s Words went with me to college; a copy of Knowing God was carried overland from London to Athens to the Soviet border in Turkey….
Yes, God’s Words has been reprinted under a new title, 18 Words, and I’ve quoted it here, here, and here, and expect to quote from it again in my next post. I’ve been thinking as I read that this would be a good book for a college student. It’s a perfect companion for Knowing God, and deserves to be a classic, too.
