Thankful Thursday
It’s cold out, especially for November. It makes me thankful that I have warm winter outerwear: thick boots, a calf-length down parka with hood, and puffy mitts. None of them are pretty (I’m not sure pretty and warm is possible.), but they keep me warm and that’s a good gift.
I’ve been on a vocation kick lately, thanking God for the people who do work that provides good things from God for us, so I should be thankful, too, for those who designed and made and stocked and sold my winter gear.
I’m thankful for a warm supper in the crockpot. It’s been smelling delish all day as I worked.
I’m thankful that my car starts in the cold even when I forget to plug in the block heater. (There’s a reason Toyotas are #1 in the north of Canada.) Yay for car designers and manufacturers, too.

My brother and sister-in-law, when they lived in Saskatchewan, had a Toyota Camry, and there were a few mornings of -30 weather and her car started up without having been plugged in.
Mine starts down to at least -40. It's the same for my daughter's Corolla and my son's Tundra. They have never not started because of cold.
"Block heater? What's a block heater?" says the Missourian. :)
It does occasionally get below 0 F down here, but not very often.
A block heater warms the engine to make it easier to start at super cold temps. I think all new vehicles sold in canada have them. We used them in Minnesota, too. You don't really need them until -10F or so.
