Sunday's Hymn

We did sing out of the hymnal this morning, but only one selection was a hymn with words I can find online and that is one I featured here only a couple of months ago. So I’m going to post another of the favorite hymns of my youth instead.

Lead Me to Calvary

King of my life, I crown Thee now,
Thine shall the glory be;
Lest I forget Thy thorn crowned brow,
Lead me to Calvary.

Refrain
Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget Thine agony;
Lest I forget Thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary.

Show me the tomb where Thou wast laid,
Tenderly mourned and wept;
Angels in robes of light arrayed
Guarded Thee whilst Thou slept.

Let me like Mary, through the gloom,
Come with a gift to Thee;
Show to me now the empty tomb,
Lead me to Calvary.

What Is a Healthy Church Member?

What Is a Healthy Church Member? is patterned after the book What is a Healthy Church? by Mark Dever, and is the third book in the IXMark series. It gives us “one proposal for becoming a healthier member of your local church.”

The ten chapters in this little book (and it is little) are based around ten marks of a healthy church member. Each chapter ends with a few questions for deeper thinking on the topic of the chapter, and many chapters also include a short list of books for more reading on the topic. It’s all biblically grounded, theologically sound, and most of all, practical.

Gas Up: July 31

Down again, from $1.449 to $1.429. I won’t say “I told you so” about the downward trend. I’ll just say that it feels good to be right yet again.

I’d feel even better if there were a little sunshine to brighten my photo.

Dorothy’s gas price has gone down under $4.00 per gallon.

What about you? What are you paying for gas in your corner of the universe? And is that up or down from last week?

On Wednesday, it went from $3.48 to $3.65. With a “loyal shopper” card from a local grocery store, that made it $3.38 before the price spike.

That still makes gas in his area of Kansas cost less than it does for most of the rest of us. But it is up, and it goes agains my downward trend prediction.
