Gas, for me, costs the same this week as last.
The cost of Dorothy’s gas went down again—down 4 cents from last week.
What about you? What are you paying for gas in your corner of the universe? Is the price where you live down from last week, too? Give me your report and help me fill up this empty space.
Update, August 8: The gas at my station has already gone down another three cents to $139.9. And from the comments:
John reminds us that the high cost of petroleum has many adverse effects.
Yesterday a farmer told me that he paid around $95.00 an acre this year
for his fertilizer; that doesn’t count his fuel. When he bought the
land he paid less than $90.00 an acre for it. And when he adds the cost
of fuel and fertilizer that he has in each bale of hay it comes to more
than the hay is worth!
Janna (who, by the way, is my sister) gives us this report from her town (and my hometown):
3.53 US dollars for a US gallon here in beautiful Bemidji.
threegirldad gives us up-to-the-minute reporting from Kansas, the center of the
universe USA, where the price of gas is dropping so fast he can hardly keep up. This morning, he wrote:
It’s dropped from $3.65 to $3.52 since last Friday.
And this afternoon?
Ummm, make that $3.49….

Karen adds:
$4.03 at ARCO in Monrovia, CA which is down from last week. I have a little over half a tank and hope it will last until next week when the gas will go down (crossing my fingers as I type this) again.

Kim reports from Ontario:
We hit the most expensive gas spot we’ve encountered over the summer. It was in Ignace, Ontario, about two hours west of Thunder Bay. Regular gas was $1.43 per litre. Hubby was driving the company vehicle, and he always puts in premium gas, and that was $1.54, I think. Between home and camp, which is north of Dryden, Ontario, we spent a cool $500 on fuel.
I’m always happy, in a ornery way, when anyone has higher gas prices than I do. So thank you, Ignace, Ontario, for making my day.
Off the top of my head, I’m going to say
Darlene has had the highest US prices reported here this summer:
Our gas is $4.09 (August 8) down from $4.79 on June 18th.
I would love to see it go under $4 …. but right now thankful for anything lower!
