November of Thanksgiving 26
I‘m hoping that you’ll all remember that these daily thanksgiving posts don’t stop after American Thanksgiving Day, but go on through the entire month of November. If you can spare the time, please keep posting your thanksgiving.
As I went through my very busy day, here are a few thing I thanked God for:
- rye bread toast for breakfast.
- my wall paper scraping son. The hideous wall paper in the back entry has been up since we bought the house in 1984. I knew getting it off the wall would be a big job—that’s the reason I lived with something so appalling for so long—but now it really has to go. I’m so thankful I don’t have to scrape it off myself, but that my youngest son has offered to do it for me.
- an answer to prayer.
- my golden retreiver. She really is a lovely old girl.
- unexpected company.
- a few good conversations.
- the opportunity to help someone out just a little.
- supper in the crockpot.
- the incarnation. That God the Son would come to us as a human being is mind-boggling. It was our only hope, and God planned it and brought it about for us.
Others thanking God today:
- Diane is thankful for the Heidelberg Catechism with a little bit of levity.
- Becky is thankful for the privileges that she has in Christ.
- Kim (The Upward Call) is thankful for surprises.
- Laura is thankful for five blessings.
- Lisa is thankful for five blessings, too.

- Elle is thankful for an awesome night’s sleep and more.
- Rosemary is thankful for home.
- Trisha is thankful for just enough.
- Victoria is thankful for new blogging friends.
- Kim (Hiraeth) is thankful for leftovers and more.
- Joan is thankful for the abundant life.
- Dorothy is thankful for Emily.
- Jen is thankful for her husband.

What are you thankful for today?

Rebecca, Happy to hear your son is going to do that tough job for ya. My husband used to remove wallpaper professionally and he recommends these tips -

Thanks Diane. That helped. My son seems to be doing pretty much as the article recommends, and it is coming off. It's just taking a lot more time and work than the wallpaper I removed from the dining room last month. I think if I show him that the article says that "some wallpaper is just plain stubborn no matter what you use, so don't become discouraged if the paper is resistant," he'll be encouraged to persevere.
So glad it helped. Robert says every job is different, some just peel right off - occasionally some won't come off no matter what and have to be textured over by drywall people - but 95% of the time you can get it off with patience even if it means peeling little pieces off one at a time.
ps. Keep it wet with hot water, and keep your putty knife handy.
(oh, and prayer is essential - :)
We were thinking we might have to texture it if we can't get it off. But I think (and hope) we can get it off.
I have been off the grid for the past few days, but still thankful! Here is my post:
